Mississippi State lost a 2016 football opponent when Tulane opted out of of a game that was scheduled to be played Davis Wade Stadium.
But it looks like the Bulldogs have replaced the Green Wave.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette reported late Sunday night that the Bulldogs will play at UMass in 2016. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Sept. 24.
Mississippi State had no comment on the deal, but it is expected to made official Monday afternoon.
The game is part of a two-for-one contract between the two schools, with the Minutemen coming to Starkville Sept.
