Arizona shuts out Bulldogs’ power

STARKVILLE – Dudy Noble Field experienced power outage during the middle of the eighth inning that halted play for 37 minutes.

The power outage from Mississippi State’s offense began much earlier than that. Not even the second-largest Super Regional crowd of 12,913 were able to generate enough energy to revive the Bulldogs’ bats in a 1-0 loss to Arizona in Game 1.

It was the first time MSU had been shutout since Feb. 20 on opening weekend. The Bulldogs flew out 10 times and struck out nine others and finished with only five hits.

Arizona starting pitcher Bobby Dalbec “did a good job throwing strike one with multiple pitches,” said MSU third baseman Gavin Collins.
