Earlier this summer Maroon and White Nation spent a large amount of time digging through Mississippi State archives; because we had nothing better to do. There were a lot of interesting things we found, but perhaps none more interesting than LSU head football coach Les Miles’ 1971 application to Mississippi State.
We have finally received permission** to share the application with you. It was indeed denied as you might imagine; since Coach Miles eventually went to Michigan where he played football for legendary coach Bo Schembechler. He then went on to a lengthy career coaching big uglies at Colorado and Michigan, then he even coached for the big Cowboys before moving on to be head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowboys; and now LSU where he has two SEC championships and one national championship.
