Three-star cornerback Dontrel Allen attended Mississippi State’s camp on Monday and earned a scholarship offer for his efforts.
Allen quickly pounced at the chance and committed to the Bulldogs a few hours later.
The 6-foot, 181-pounder from Reserve, La., chose MSU over offers from Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, TCU, Troy and Tulane.
As a junior, Allen helped lead East St. John to a 7-6 record and into the second round of the Class 5A State Playoffs. He has been clocked with a 4.35 forty time and a 35-inch vertical along with a 500-pound squat max and 275-pound bench press.
