4-star OLB and Starkville native Willie Gay commits to Ole Miss

For the second time this year, Ole Miss has taken a player out of Mississippi State’s backyard.

Four-star outside linebacker Willie Gay, from Starkville, was the latest such player, when he announced his commitment to the Rebels Friday on Twitter.

Gay, a class of 2017 prospect, had been offered by nine different SEC schools, including Ole Miss; Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M also were interested in him.

In addition to Ole Miss, Gay appeared to be most seriously considering Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina and LSU, as well as Michigan, based on a tweet sent out moments before his announcement.
