Cornerback Tee Shepard is leaving the Ole Miss football team.
Shepard announced his decision in a statement through the school’s media relations staff this afternoon.
Shepard has a hearing disability, and that has contributed to a lack of playing time for the former five-star recruit.
Shepard, native of Fresno, Calif., and a former Notre Dame signee, will continue to work on his degree at Ole Miss.
“The injuries and challenges I have overcome the last few years have taken away my love for playing the game of football,” Shepard said.
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said Monday that he had been meeting with Shepard and exploring different ways for him to be successful on the field.
