The Southeastern Conference announced Sept. 26 as the new kickoff date for its 10-game, conference-only fall football schedule.
The SEC Football Championship game, originally planned for Dec. 5, was pushed back to Dec. 19 and will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This new schedule will include one mid-open season date for each school as well as one open date for all schools on Dec. 12.
“This new plan for a football schedule is consistent with the educational goals of our universities to allow for the safe and orderly return to campus of their student populations and to provide a healthy learning environment during these unique circumstances presented by the COVID-19 virus,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in the announcement.
