Oxford retailer suing Mississippi State players over NCAA allegations

Rebel Rags, a clothing store in Oxford, Miss., that specializes in Ole Miss merchandise, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Mississippi State players Leo Lewis and Kobe Jones, as well as Lindsey Miller, the stepfather of former Ole Miss and current Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil.

Charlie Merkel, who serves as one of the attorneys representing the store, told the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger that the suit was filed Friday afternoon and that the servicing process was completed Sunday. Merkel told the newspaper that Rebel Rags is suing all three parties for “defamation, slander, conspiracy and commercial disparagement stemming from false statements made to the NCAA and have since been published in the (university’s response to the) notice of allegations.
