Ole Miss has self-reported 13 violations to the NCAA, including five involving cellphone usage. The violations were made by the football, women’s basketball and track programs.
Records obtained by the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger show that Ole Miss committed 13 minor violations from January 1 to May 31 of this year.
The school said one Rebels football assistant “pocket dialed” a recruit after speaking with him a couple of days before. A coach also accidentally contacted a recruit while trying to get in touch with his father, who is his high school coach. An assistant illegally made contact by text message with a recruit en route to his unofficial visit.
