Brittney Reese lost her gold medal reign in the women’s long jump tonight, but she did take home the silver medal. She lost to fellow American Tianna Bartoletta, a University of Tennessee graduate.
Reese jumped 7.15 meters, which was second to Bartoletta’s 7.17 meters.
Tonight marked the final event that an Ole Miss Olympian would compete in, ending the Rebs in Rio. The former Rebels brought home two medals, with Sam Kendricks bringing home the bronze in the pole vault and Reese earning the silver.
Maybe by 2020, Ole Miss can send double the athletes they sent this year?
