It’s no secret that Ole Miss’ defense is utterly terrible. The Landsharks are currently giving up 6.2 yards per play, and an astounding 516.8 yards per game. The fewest yards they’ve allowed this year is 390 to Kent State. Read that sentence aloud and just sorta sit with it for a minute.
The Rebs’ defensive struggles are due in sizable fashion to a rash of injuries among the secondary, including important talents C.J. Moore, Montrell Custis, and Jaylon Jones. Moore and Jones bring the most experience to the bunch, and their absences deplete and depress a depth chart that’s already struggling to merely tread water.
