The Manning name is synonymous with Ole Miss football and it all began with Archie. It’s been fifty years since Archie Manning and the Ole Miss Rebels had that memorable season in 1969. This week I was fortunate to interview Archie and talk about that 1969 team to include the highs and the lows and losing his Dad right before the season started. Archie talks about the infamous Alabama game where he set records in the first college football game nationally televised at night.
We discussed the thrills of beating four Top 10 teams in one year culminating in a Sugar Bowl victory over Arkansas.
