Indiana head football coach Kevin Wilson has been let go despite leading the Hoosiers to back-to-back bowl-eligible seasons for the first time since 1990-1991, sources have confirmed to SB Nation’s Steven Godfrey. On the surface, that may not seem like news worth covering on an Ole Miss site, but the turnover in Bloomington could have major reverberations in Oxford.
That’s because current Indiana defensive coordinator Tom Allen, a former assistant under Hugh Freeze, is considered one of the favorites to take over for recently-retired Ole Miss DC Dave Wommack. Many, including Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports, have speculated that Allen could now be in line to take over the head coaching job in Bloomington instead.
