Charlie Conerly was named the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1948 and led the New York Giants to the NFL title in 1956; he was a three-time All-Pro.
Jimmy Lear led Ole Miss to its first undefeated season in 1952.
Jake Gibbs, Doug Elmore and Glynn Griffin were named All-Americans while under center at Ole Miss. Gibbs would go on to have a storied career with the New York Yankees as a catcher and became Ole Miss’ baseball coach.
But as good as those guys were, they are not named “Manning.
