Ole Miss football announced Friday via Twitter new positive COVID-19 cases has caused a stoppage of team activities until next week.
A seven-day suspension until December 9 was the recommendation of the athletic department after discussions with the Mississippi Department of Health. There is no Ole Miss football game scheduled during this stoppage of team activities, so no games have been canceled.
The statement did leave open the possibility games in the future against LSU and Texas A&M could be canceled as the situation is obviously very fluid. The Rebels (4-4) have not had a pause in team activities this season in football, but the Ole Miss men’s basketball team was forced to cancel four games and push back the beginning of its season due to COVID-19 precautions and protocol.
