Bowl practices aren’t as important as you think

I couldn’t disagree more, and I speak from playing and coaching experience.

Before I state my case, let me say that bowl games are a nice reward for teams that deserve them. Players get good gifts along with a trip to a city that (usually) most never have visited. The on-site bowl events also create great memories, and let’s not forget the game and a chance to go out and compete once again. Heck, coaches often land a nice bonus for going to a bowl game.

But the notion that the “extra” bowl practices are a key to next season is just plain hogwash.
