Sean Tuohy, the adoptive father of former Ole Miss and current Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher, told the Commercial Appeal of Memphis that he still supports former Rebels coach Hugh Freeze.
Tuohy (above left, with Freeze) coached the eighth-grade boys basketball team at Memphis’ Briarcrest Christian School, where Freeze coached football and girls basketball; the two basketball teams routinely would share practice time. Both coaches were depicted in the movie The Blind Side, chronicling the Tuohy family’s adoption of Oher and his emergence as a top national prospect on Freeze’s football team.
Tuohy, a former Ole Miss basketball point guard and a donor to the Rebels’ athletic program, said he still supports Freeze despite the coach’s resignation because of a pattern of personal misconduct.
