Hugh Freeze and his staff just got an enormous -- and to be frank, startling -- commitment from four-star wideout A.J. Brown, who was thought by most to be choosing between Alabama and Mississippi State. The fact that Brown, the fifth best wideout in the country and the third best player in the 247Sports composite rankings, is from Starkville makes his decision that much sweeter.
Not that Brown's commitment is entirely out of left field, mind you. Hugh Freeze and Co. have put in a lot of work on Brown, who is also good friends with long-time Ole Miss receiver commit DeKaylin Metcalf.
