3 with SEC football ties inducted into Alabama Sports Hall of Fame

Former Alabama offensive tackle Chris Samuels, former Auburn running back James Brooks and current Duke coach David Cutcliffe were inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend.

Samuels, who played for the Crimson Tide from 1995-99, is a native of Mobile, Ala., where he attended Shaw High. After redshirting as a freshman in 1995, Samuels started 42 consecutive games without allowing a sack and helped open holes for running back Shaun Alexander over the course of the next four seasons. He was selected by the Washington Redskins with the third overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft; he was named to the Pro Bowl six times in 10 seasons.
