ST. LOUIS -- In order to fill the open forward spot left by Justin Fontaine's absence, the Wild called up forward Jordan Schroeder, who is set to play in his second game of the season here Saturday night against the Blues.
Schroeder met the Wild here after playing in Rockford, Ill., with the Wild's AHL affiliate Friday night.
He will likely take Fontaine's spot at right wing on the third line after Fontaine suffered a lower body injury Friday on a knee to knee hit that will sideline Fontaine multiple weeks. The NHL determined the hit from Chicago forward Andrew Desjardins was not worthy of supplemental discipline
Schroeder's only other NHL game this season also came against the Blues in the second game of the season, notching 9 minutes, 34 seconds of ice time to go with a plus-1 rating.
