Wild assistant general manager Brent Flahr said when Joel Eriksson Ek gets the puck, it doesn't take him very long to make a decision.
"Usually the smart decisions, too," Flahr said. "He can make plays, he can score, he can defend. As he gets stronger, quicker, faster, he should be an exciting player for us going forward."
That was on display early at the Wild's development camp scrimmage on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center.
Eriksson Ek -- the Wild's first round pick (No. 20 overall) in the 2015 NHL draft -- forced a turnover, collected the puck and delivered a pristine pass to the stick of Zack Mitchell -- the Wild's second round pick -- who put the puck in the net for the first goal of the scrimmage.
