Mikko Koivu will have surgery on his right knee to repair a torn ACL and mensicus and will miss the rest of the season. The short-term replacement is likely to be Joel Eriksson-Ek, but GM Paul Fenton will have a little more than two weeks to decide if he will make moves to strengthen the roster for a playoff push, or whether Minnesota will be sellers at the deadline.
