Wild signs WCHA Player of the Year Petan to Amateur Tryout

Michigan Tech University's Captain Alex Petan has chosen to sign with the Minnesota Wild Wednesday afternoon. Named the WCHA's Player of the Year, Petan scored 33 points in 36 games in his senior season with the Huskies from Houghton. The Delta, BC native helped lead his team to a 23-9-5 record on its way to a WCHA regular season championship title.

Throughout his four year career at MTU, he averaged three shots per game, has 15 game-winning goals, 21 power play goals, and total of 135 points in 153 games played. Alex's younger brother Nicolas is a prospect of the Winnipeg Jets.
