The Minnesota Wild forward Sam Anas (pronounced ann-Is) to a two-year, entry-level contract starting with the 2016-17 season.
Anas, 22 (6/1/93), tallied 50 points (24-26=50) in 43 games during his junior season at Quinnipiac University, helping lead the Bobcats to the NCAA National Championship Game April 9. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound native of Potomac, Md., led the team in goals and scoring, ranked T-1st in power-play goals (10) and was second in assists, shots on goal (146) and game-winning goals (four). Anas was named to the 2015-16 AHCA/CCM Hockey Men’s Division I All-America First Team, to the NCAA Tournament All-East Region Team, as well as the ECAC Hockey First Team.
