Already playing with the fourth organization of his young career, 25-year-old Zac Dalpe is hoping a good first impression will lead to better results.
A second-round draft pick in 2008, signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild in July. After standing out Thursday in his first preseason game, a 5-2 win in Columbus, he earned a spot in the Wild's lineup Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.
He was impressive early in Thursday's game, which led to additional playing time when forward Justin Fontaine didn't play the last half of the game because of injury.
"I liked his game all night," coach Mike Yeo said.
