Wild: Power outage melts some of NHL's best ice

Because of an overnight power outage in St. Paul, the ice crew at Xcel Energy Center faced a tall task in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

About 12 hours before puck drop for Game 3, the ice sheet had melted into a slushy mix.

"Following an overnight power outage in downtown Saint Paul, the ice plant at Xcel Energy Center was impacted for a short time," the Wild said in a statement. "Arena staff acted quickly to implement full capacity, and the ice is ready for tonight's game."

The teams, though, carried on with their normal game day routines, the Wild skating on the ice at 10:30 a.
