COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jordan Schroeder has yet to spend a full season in the NHL.
He bounced between Vancouver and its American Hockey League team during two stints with the Canucks. And last season, when Schroeder was a key contributor for the Wild late in the season and played in three playoff games, he still played more games in the AHL than NHL.
But now, a week into Wild training camp, Schroeder has his best chance to stick in the NHL and improve on his career-high 31 NHL games in a season.
When the Wild bought out forward Matt Cooke and did not re-sign forward Kyle Brodziak over the summer, a spot on the fourth line opened up, and the 24-year-old former Gophers star has had the inside track for that job since camp opened.
