When the Wild re-signed defenseman Nate Prosser on Wednesday, it likely ended Jordan Leopold's time with the team.
Leopold was traded to the Wild last March after a well-publicized letter from his daughter Jordyn went viral, eventually earning her the NHL's Social Media Moment of the Year Award.
Her father's time with the team was productive. Initially acquired for depth, Leopold became a regular and played in nine postseason games.
Yet the Wild already have eight defensemen they believe are NHL-ready, and it's unlikely they have the roster spot to sign Leopold, 34, who won a Hobey Baker Award and national championship with the Gophers.
