In an effort to shore up their fourth line and add depth, the Minnesota Wild claimed former Blues forward Chris Porter off waivers, a move that could mean Jordan Schroeder won't be in the team's opening night lineup.
The Wild saw Porter first-hand in the opening round of the playoffs last season and claimed him Thursday after the Philadelphia Flyers placed him on waivers Wednesday.
"He's a guy that's always been on our radar," coach Mike Yeo said.
On a team that lacks size and physicality, Porter brings both without reducing the Wild's speed.
"He's a guy with NHL experience, he's a guy with speed, and he's a guy that plays a physical game," Yeo said.
