In a move that adds depth and faceoff savvy, the Minnesota Wild claimed veteran centerman Jarret Stoll off waivers Tuesday.
Stoll, 33, cut loose by the New York Rangers on Monday, likely will join the Wild in time for their home game against the Rangers on Thursday, general manager Chuck Fletcher said.
A 13-year veteran and two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Los Angeles Kings, Stoll signed a one-year, $800,000 deal with the Rangers during the offseason.
He struggled to produce in New York, amassing just one goal and three points in an average of 13:47 on the ice in 29 games.
