St. Paul native Phil Housley finally received the call to the hall.
Housley, a graduate of South St. Paul High School, was announced as a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee on Monday. He will be inducted in November.
The defenseman had a 21-year career, eight of which were spent in Buffalo, who drafted Housley with the No. 6 pick in the 1982 NHL draft.
A seven-time all-star, Housley finished his NHL career with 1,232 points (338 goals and 894 assists), second all-time among American-born players, trailing only former North Stars forward Mike Madono.
Housley played his final NHL game in 2003.
