It has been a long time coming, but the NHL, NHLPA, IIHF, and the IOC have finally come to an agreement. The best hockey players on the planet will be heading to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Way back in 2018 — it does seem like over a decade ago, right? — the league and player union just could not figure out a way for players to make the trip to PyeongChang and participate in the best-on-best tournament. Instead it was full of players just playing in Europe’s best leagues and some minor-leaguers that didn’t have an NHL contract.
