NHL draws line in sand as head trauma lawsuit eyes St. Paul

Gary Bettman was at TCF Bank Stadium on Wednesday, happy to share his thoughts on why hockey should be played outdoors in February in Minnesota. Of more interest and consequence for the NHL is what the league's longtime commissioner had to say last Friday in New York.

That's when and where Bettman gave sworn testimony in the discovery phase of a massive lawsuit trying to establish that the NHL is legally responsible for the long-term effects of head trauma suffered by its players.

Whatever Bettman did or didn't have to say, plaintiffs lawyers apparently did their best to wrest it all from him.
