The Twin Cities chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (PHWA) today announced the nomination of Minnesota Wild defenseman Nate Prosser for the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The trophy is presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
Prosser, 29 (5/7/86), has collected three assists and is a plus-3 in 51 games this season. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound native of Elk River, Minn., ranks T-3rd on the team in penalty minutes (34) and fifth in blocked shots (72). He was originally signed by Minnesota as a free agent on March 18, 2010, and has recorded 31 points (5-26=31) and 193 PIM in 240 career NHL games, all with the Wild.
