Minnesota Wild glad Charlie Coyle no longer playing it safe

SUNRISE, Fla. -- For a moment in the hallway of BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., the home of the Florida Panthers, Wild forward Charlie Coyle thought back to last season and the inconsistencies that plagued what many expected to be his breakout season.

Enduring long stretches without a point, Coyle's confidence dipped and he produced just 11 goals and 24 assists in 82 games.

But now, with Coyle on pace to blow past those numbers, the 23-year-old reflected on what has changed.

"The confidence has grown, definitely," said Coyle, a first-round draft pick in 2010. "It helps when you score and feel good about yourself.
