RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jason Zucker shook his fist in celebration behind the net as his Wild teammates charged off the bench toward him.
The Wild, who began a four-game road trip with a sleepy first period, scored three unanswered goals -- two from Zucker -- to earn their first-ever win in the NHL's new 3-on-3 overtime format.
Zucker deflected in a shot from Ryan Suter that lifted the Wild to a 3-2 victory Thursday night in front of a quiet crowd. Zucker's goal came 3 minutes, 50 seconds into the extra period.
The win came in the Wild's first of a tough four-game road trip that forced them to pack their bags after the game and take off for Dallas, where they play Saturday.
