Like it or not, the Minnesota Wild season is over. As players return home to spend time with their families, Charlie Coyle has decided to play just a little bit longer, joining team USA at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in the Czech Republic this month.
Joining a roster that features several highly regarded prospects, such as Jack Eichel and Jimmy Vesey; Coyle joins fellow NHL skaters Jake Gardiner, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, and Justin Faulk. Former Minnesota Wild head coach and current Columbus Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards is the head coach for team USA at Worlds
The World Championships, which are held annually in May, features a smattering of NHL players representing their country; however, because of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the teams also feature college standouts, prospects, and players from European leagues to fill out rosters.
