Michael Russo of The Athletic broke some shocking Minnesota Wild news earlier this afternoon: General Manager Paul Fenton has been fired after 14 months on the job. This makes a quick and surprising end to a tenure that, despite its brief length, was filled with questionable decisions. The timing of Fenton’s departure, is equally confusing. Two months into the offseason, Fenton was able to run the 2019 draft, sign free agents, and make decisions to impact the Wild’s longterm plans. The team will now search for a replacement who will have to do what he can with the team Fenton has left him.
