Per a press release from the Minnesota Wild, former South St. Paul Packer and UMD Bulldog Alex Stalock has signed an extension with the team. It is a three year contract with an cap hit of $785,000. In 28 games played in the 2017-18 season, Stalock posted a .910 SV% and 2.85 GAA and so far in 2018-19 he has a 0.894 SV% with a 2.92 GAA in 14 games played.
The cap hit seems reasonable, but the instant reaction from many was concern regarding the length of the contract given the strong start prospect Kaapo Kahkonen has had in the AHL this season, strong enough for some to start anointing Kahkonen as the #goalieofthefuture for the Minnesota Wild.
