The news on the injured knee of Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is not ideal. The star running back has suffered a torn meniscus.
Mike Zimmer to @DanBarreiroKFAN on Adrian Peterson: "He's got a torn meniscus." Timetable uncertain at this point. #Vikings

It's still unclear how long Peterson will be out, although the Vikings have not ruled him out for Week 3. That at least gives Peterson a chance at playing soon. It depends heavily on how severe the injury is and if it needs surgery.
Chris Johnson, now with the Arizona Cardinals, claimed he had a torn meniscus for much of the 2013 season when he was with the Titans. He gained over a 1,000 yards that season.
The Vikings have Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata behind Peterson on the depth chart.
