Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been compared to an NFL great by a former NFL head coach. Greg Schiano, who previously led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, created Vikings news on Thursday by saying Bridgewater reminded him of Joe Montana.
"This may be a little bit weird, but I look at Teddy Bridgewater and he reminds me of a young Joe Montana," Schiano said. "He’s accurate, he’s just mobile enough to give you real fits and he’s a smart quarterback. He’s got weapons around. That’s why I think his ceiling is sneaky."
Bridgewater hasn't exactly torched the NFL in his limited time. In 22 games, Bridgewater has completed 64 percent of his passes for 4,729 yards, 21 TDs and 18 picks. However, Schiano argued that Montana, a third round pick, didn't dominate the NFL right away either.
"Remember, when Joe was young, people were questioning, 'Could he even play in this league?'" Schiano said.
Still, Schiano is comparing a young QB to one the greatest, if not the greatest, QBs in NFL history. That seems like a slight stretch.
