In frigid temperatures, the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings are in a tight battle in the NFC Wild Card game. Defenses have been dominant so far, with the Vikings holding a 3-0 lead.
The kickoff temperature checked in at minus-6 degrees and with a wind chill of minus-25. It's the coldest game in Vikings' history and the offenses haven't done much so far. The Seahawks have 86 yards of offense and the Vikings have 99.
The lone score was set up by a botched Seattle punt. A low snap forced Jon Ryan to tuck and run, but he failed to pick up the first down. The Vikings started with the ball at the Seattle 29 and moved all the way down to the Seattle 4. However, the team was unable to find the end zone and was forced to settle for a field goal.
The Seahawks didn't even attempt a 48-yard field goal with six minutes to go in the second quarter because of the cold temperatures. The team didn't believe that kicker Steven Hauschka would be able to make the kick.
There were just a combined nine drives between the two teams, with one of those just consisting of kneeldowns by the Vikings to end the half. The Vikings dominated time of possession, having the ball for nearly 18 minutes.
The Vikings haven given RB Adrian Peterson 14 carries already, but he's recorded just 31 yards. QB Teddy Bridgewater has completed nine of 13 passes for 68 yards.
Russell Wilson is leading the way for the Seahawks. He's completed six of 11 passes for 39 yards. He's also added 13 yards on the ground. Christine Michael is the leading rusher with eight touches for 28 yards.
Seattle will receive the ball to start the second half.
