EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — There are not too many slots for the Vikings defense left to leap frog in yards allowed and points allowed per game, but Head Coach Mike Zimmer still sees room for improvement.
The Vikings ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed per game (314.9) and sixth in points allowed per game (19.2) a season ago. It was the first top-10 finish by Minnesota in yards allowed and second in a row in points allowed under Zimmer.
Minnesota has gone from 31st in yards allowed per game and 32nd in points allowed per game in 2013, the season before Zimmer arrived, to a top six in both categories in 2016.
