Hall of famer Warren Moon wanted to retire with the Vikings, but it didn't happen.
The quarterback made the Pro Bowl playing for Minnesota in 1994, when he passed for 4,264 yards, and in 1995, when he had 4,228. The next season, he missed the final eight games because of a broken collarbone and turned 40.
The Vikings wanted to make Brad Johnson the starter in 1997, with Moon as the backup. But Moon declined to accept a pay cut from $4.3 million to $500,000 and was given his release.
"I wanted to finish my career in Minnesota, no question about it," Moon said Wednesday.
