SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- High winds swirled around Levi's Stadium Monday night as Vikings kicker Blair Walsh went through his pregame regimen before Minnesota's 2015 season kicked off.
Apropos given the fresh doubts swirling around Walsh's acumen.
The timing was terrible for Walsh to have a rocky preseason after signing a four-year, $14 million contract extension.
And ironic considering his powerful first impression in Minnesota.
Walsh made just 5 of 11 field-goal attempts, all inside 50 yards, where he is 70 of 79 in his regular-season career.
"It's no secret they weren't the results I wanted, but not for a lack of effort," Walsh said last week.
