Volunteers still needed for 2018 Super Bowl at U.S. Bank Stadium

More than 13,000 prospective volunteers have submitted applications to be part of Super Bowl 2018.

The Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee needs 10,000 volunteers to show up at the event. But to start they need 13,000 as a cushion for the inevitable dropout rate of about 30 percent.

As of Friday, the committee reported receiving 13,221 applications, 90 percent of which came from Minnesota, according to spokeswoman Andrea Mokros. The application process will continue into summer.

Of the applicants, 60 percent are women and 40 percent are men. Mokros said the average applicant is a 46-year-old woman.
