EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Long-respected columnist Sid Hartman is most comfortable behind a spiraled notepad and dated cassette recorder, often highlighting the Vikings through his work with the Star Tribune.
The Vikings turned the tables Tuesday, making Hartman the guest of honor on his 96th birthday.
Vikings coaches and staff gathered in the Winter Park cafeteria to welcome Hartman, who received a standing ovation and plenty of applause upon entering.
After a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday,” someone prompted Hartman to give a speech.
“I have this to say – I love the Vikings,” Hartman said.
