MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings are officially on the move.
The team will break ground on its new practice facility and team headquarters in Eagan, Minnesota, this summer, after the Eagan City Council approved plans on Tuesday night for the 200-acre campus on the site of Northwest Airlines' former corporate headquarters. The Vikings, who bought the land last year, plan to move into the new facility in March 2018. They will use about 40 acres of the property for the team headquarters, and develop the rest over the next 10-15 years.
Plans for the Eagan facility include an outdoor stadium with a capacity of 6,000, meaning the Vikings could move training camp from Mankato, Minnesota, after their contract with Minnesota State University expires following the 2018 season.
