Vikings turn to Gerald Hodges to fill middle linebacker vacancy

MANKATO, Minn. -- Already trying out a right guard who had barely played the position before, the Vikings are now considering a novice to bring stability to the middle linebacker spot.

Gerald Hodges, a third-year outside linebacker from Penn State, has been moved to the middle for the first time.

"I was excited," Hodges said. "I never had played middle linebacker before, but like I told the coaches, I feel very comfortable there. ... I'm still getting used to it, getting acclimated, but I'm excited to play there."

Last week, the Vikings moved Mike Harris from tackle to guard, a position has played just once since he began high school.
