The Vikings slowed down St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley in the first half Sunday. Stopping their kicker was another matter.
Greg Zuerlein booted a 61-yard field in the second quarter, the seventh-longest in NFL history, and later added field goals of 35 and 45 yards to give the Rams a 15-10 halftime lead at TCF Bank Stadium.
The Vikings held star Gurley, the first rookie ever to have four straight 125-yard rushing games, to 34 yards on 11 carries in the first two quarters. It was expected to be a duel between two of the NFL's best running backs, and Minnesota's Adrian Peterson held up his end of it with 51 yards on 11 carries.
